Yoga & The Elements

Yoga is a practice that helps nourish and clarify our kinship with the earth. We attune to and move from the elementals in our own body and thereby find a window into the earth and nature.

The earth in our body is our physicality: our bones, our flesh.
The water in our body is in our blood, sweat, tears, spinal fluid. We’re 70% or so water, just the same ratio of the oceans on the planet.
The fire in our body is in our hormonal processes, the fire in our belly and digestion and in all the enzymatic activities in our system.
The air in our body is our breath.
The space in our body is everywhere. We are mostly space. In between each atomic particle in our cellular structure, there is a vastness.

Earth, water, fire, air, and space. When we begin to clarify the elements within us, we awaken to the sacred nature all around us, below us, above us. As we find the inner call to optimize the flow and functioning of the inner elements, we can see the imperative to caretake, steward, protect, and nourish the elements weaving together as our earth and our sustenance.

On this day, we honor this planet, this breath, this meal, this drink of water, and this incredible body we’ve been blessed with to experience it all.
