Why Yoga?

With yoga, you have the tools at hand to shift your life.

Yoga has the power to not only help us notice patterns in our mind and muscles that can contraction and reactivity, but it has the power to shift and ultimately release these patterns.

With practice, we can notice more clearer where we tend to push too hard or give up a bit or where we tend to shut down. Through our breath, awareness of our body in space, muscles unclench and lengthen, emotions get unstuck and move through and out, channels of energy have less crimping and we feel more flow and energy.

And this can open us to our Joy. A student just yesterday remarked how she felt for the first time in her life (she is in her 80s) that her lungs were expanding alongside her heart. She felt her facial muscles relax in relaxation pose. These sensations were new and astonishing. She relayed how just once a week yoga has contributed to feeling less reactive in her life.

Even once a week can make a difference in our mental and emotional states. This happens when weekly- or even better- a few times weekly, having a practice in which we are consistently coming to our breath, moving with awareness, creating actions in the body that balance our habitual patterning of rounding or overextending.

Yoga connects us to balance- inner and outer.
